Use a water pistol to blast the mess away...

by Shaheen
(West Yorkshire, United Kingdom)

When your washing machine drawer needs cleaning of the soap scum, then the best way I have found is to get a bit of washing up liquid on a OLD toothbrush and then scrub.

This will enable you to get in to all the nooks and cranies and then to rinse off and this is the best bit, get your childrens water pistol and blast the mess away.

Clean the bathtub with dish soap while you shower

by Luz
(NY,NY)

I leave a bottle of dish soap and a hand towel with my shampoo. When I'm almost done showering I wipe the sides of the tub and half the floor with the soapy towel. I rinse the soap off the tub and step on the now clean area of the floor to clean the other side. Then I rinse the cloth and the floor. You don't have to scrub hard or long because if you do this with every shower the tub will be cleaned daily and the dirt won't have a chance to accumulate.

Cleaning the bathtub with shampoo.

by Dhyorot Ley
(IN, United States)

I dislike having to use commercial cleaners in the bathroom.

Everyone has bottles of left over or even bottles of shampoo that we have purchased and don't like.

I clean several homes and found that it makes a great bathtub and sink cleaner.

I purchased several inexpensive body gloves, those that are used to exfoliate when you take a shower. I put on a pair, wet them pour some shampoo on them and scrub away.

The shampoo is great for removing soap scum and smells great. Rinse well. Same with the sink and it leaves the faucets shining.

Cleaning your windows with your own dishwashing liquid

by Russ
(Boise Idaho )

This winter “mother nature” has been very moist and it does not look like she will be done with us anytime soon.

In the process of your “spring cleaning” you have noticed that your windows are very dirty. So, it is time to clean your windows.

Make your own window washing liquid with common household products. Mix two tablespoons sudsy ammonia with one quart water.

To make it freeze resistant add two cups rubbing alcohol, one teaspoon hand dishwashing liquid to one gallon water. This solution is very inexpensive and very useful.

House cleaning with a lint roller...

by Tammy Dicken Butler
(Kentucky, United States)

I keep a hand held lint roller (the kind with sticky peel offs)in every room. It is an easy, quick way to get the hair on the sink, vanity and floor of the bathroom;

  • Is great for picking up crumbs on the kitchen counter;
  • Very handy in the laundry room to run over clothing before/during/after ironing;
  • Close to the dressing area to give yourself a quick going over before leaving the house.

I even use it to go over the laminated shoe shelves in my closet!
