Tips For Using Bagless Vacuum Cleaners

The many different models of bagless vacuum cleaners now on the market are the greatest inventions for eliminating the mess of traditional vacuum cleaners.

These vacuums are able to pick up dirt and debris without the use of a bag - rather they have a removable plastic tank that the dirt and dust is deposited in for easy cleaning.

There are still some important considerations for caring for your bagless vacuum and they should be closely followed to ensure you will have optimum use of your equipment for many years.

The following tips will help bagless vacuum cleaners operating smoothly:

• Monitor the level of fill on the fill canister and do not continue to operate the vacuum once the fill line is reached. Operating the vacuum when there is more dirt in the container will lead to a decrease in suction and possible plugs and damage to the lines within the vacuum.



• Clean the filter as required by the manufacturer. Some filters may require complete replacing such as Hepa filters, whereas other filters may just require washing and drying every so many uses. Filters that are too dirty will not act as filters and also may cause the motor of the vacuum to overheat, potentially shortening the life of the motor.



• Clean strings, debris or pet hair from the roller brush on the bottom of the power head or vacuuming head. This will keep the rollers moving smoothly and will prevent the belt from being stretched or damaged if the rollers and obstructed by the string. Removing hair and other lint from the roller will increase the amount of material that can be collected by the vacuum.



• Stop the vacuum if you hear metal or other objects that appear to be rattling or jamming in either the head or collection canister. These items can damage or scratch the surfaces leading to problems in the future.



• Clean all obstructions as soon as possible, don't expect the vacuum to be able to clean itself of tangles of lint, debris or other material. Immediately shut of the vacuum and use the items provided to clear hoses or tubes within the vacuum. Most vacuums have access sites that can be used to get to areas that may potentially have clogs. Usually these will be bends or angles in the hoses or tubes. Routinely check these areas before each use.



• Immediately stop the vacuum cleaner if you notice any unusual sounds or if the motor sounds like it is slowing down or working very hard. Usually this indicates a plug in the hoses.

Bagless vacuum cleaners that are properly maintained will work for many years even under heavy cleaning conditions.
